And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying , Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went , and came into an harlot's house , named Rahab, and lodged there.
And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you. Wherefore the name of the place is called Gilgal unto this day.
For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round , and cut off our name from the earth: and what wilt thou do unto thy great name?
And they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day. So the LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called , The valley of Achor, unto this day.
And they said unto him, From a very far country thy servants are come because of the name of the LORD thy God: for we have heard the fame of him, and all that he did in Egypt,
And the name of Hebron before was Kirjatharba; which Arba was a great man among the Anakims. And the land had rest from war.
