19 Going on a little farther, He saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who were also in the boat mending the nets. 27 They were all amazed, so that they debated among themselves, saying, "What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him." 12 And He earnestly warned them not to tell who He was.

The Twelve Are Chosen

13 And He went up on the mountain and summoned those whom He Himself wanted, and they came to Him. 27 and he goes to bed at night and gets up by day, and the seed sprouts and grows -how, he himself does not know. 38 Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?" 17 For Herod himself had sent and had John arrested and bound in prison on account of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip, because he had married her. 22 and when the daughter of Herodias herself came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his dinner guests; and the king said to the girl, "Ask me for whatever you want and I will give it to you." 31 And He said to them, "Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while." And the large crowd enjoyed listening to Him. 15 "And he himself will show you a large upper room furnished and ready; prepare for us there." 39 Again He went away and prayed, saying the same words.

Betrayal and Arrest

43 Immediately while He was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, came up accompanied by a crowd with swords and clubs, who were from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. 43 Joseph of Arimathea came, a prominent member of the Council, who himself was waiting for the kingdom of God; and he gathered up courage and went in before Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.

The Disciples Commissioned
