Nehemiah 2:3; Nehemiah 4:2; Nehemiah 5:2; Nehemiah 6:11; Nehemiah 9:6; Nehemiah 9:29 (New American Standard)

3 I said to the king, "Let the king live forever. Why should my face not be sad when the city, the place of my fathers' tombs, lies desolate and its gates have been consumed by fire?" 2 He spoke in the presence of his brothers and the wealthy men of Samaria and said, "What are these feeble Jews doing? Are they going to restore it for themselves? Can they offer sacrifices? Can they finish in a day? Can they revive the stones from the dusty rubble even the burned ones?" 2 For there were those who said, "We, our sons and our daughters are many; therefore let us get grain that we may eat and live." 11 But I said, "Should a man like me flee? And could one such as I go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in." 6 "You alone are the LORD. You have made the heavens, The heaven of heavens with all their host, The earth and all that is on it, The seas and all that is in them. You give life to all of them And the heavenly host bows down before You. 29 And admonished them in order to turn them back to Your law. Yet they acted arrogantly and did not listen to Your commandments but sinned against Your ordinances, By which if a man observes them he shall live. And they turned a stubborn shoulder and stiffened their neck, and would not listen.
