Contrast of the Righteous and the Wicked

1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a father glad, But a foolish son is a grief to his mother. 25 Anxiety in a man's heart weighs it down, But a good word makes it glad. 9 The light of the righteous rejoices, But the lamp of the wicked goes out. 20 A wise son makes a father glad, But a foolish man despises his mother. 30 Bright eyes gladden the heart; Good news puts fat on the bones. 21 He who sires a fool does so to his sorrow, And the father of a fool has no joy. 15 My son, if your heart is wise, My own heart also will be glad; 24 The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice, And he who sires a wise son will be glad in him. 25 Let your father and your mother be glad, And let her rejoice who gave birth to you. 17 Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles; 9 Oil and perfume make the heart glad, So a man's counsel is sweet to his friend. 11 Be wise, my son, and make my heart glad, That I may reply to him who reproaches me. 2 When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, But when a wicked man rules, people groan. 3 A man who loves wisdom makes his father glad, But he who keeps company with harlots wastes his wealth. 6 By transgression an evil man is ensnared, But the righteous sings and rejoices.
