1 Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me. 1 Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up ; he fighting daily oppresseth me. 2 Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High. 3 They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause. 4 Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.
