When my heart was grieved and my spirit embittered,
I was senseless1 and ignorant; I was a brute beast2 before you.
Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand.324
You guide4 me with your counsel,5 and afterward you will take me into glory.
Whom have I in heaven but you?6 And earth has nothing I desire besides you.726
My flesh and my heart8 may fail,9 but God is the strength10 of my heart and my portion11 forever.
Those who are far from you will perish;12 you destroy all who are unfaithful13 to you.
But as for me, it is good to be near God.14 I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge;15 I will tell of all your deeds.16
