Luke 9:58

58 Yeshua answered him, "The foxes have holes, and the birds flying about have nests, but the Son of Man has no home of his own."

Luke 9:58 Meaning and Commentary

Luke 9:58

And Jesus said unto him, foxes have holes
Both the words of this man to Christ, and Christ's answer to him, are exactly the same as in Matthew, which makes it look as if it was the same history; though it is not improbable, that Christ might be accosted in the same manner by another person, at another time and place, and return a like answer to each; (See Gill on Matthew 8:20).

Luke 9:58 In-Context

56 And they went on to another village.
57 As they were traveling on the road, a man said to him, "I will follow you wherever you go."
58 Yeshua answered him, "The foxes have holes, and the birds flying about have nests, but the Son of Man has no home of his own."
59 To another he said, "Follow me!" but the man replied, "Sir, first let me go away and bury my father."
60 Yeshua said, "Let the dead bury their own dead; you, go and proclaim the Kingdom of God!"
