See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy,1 which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world2 rather than on Christ.
For in Christ all the fullness3 of the Deity lives in bodily form,
and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head4 over every power and authority.511
In him you were also circumcised,6 in the putting off of the sinful nature,a7 not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision done by Christ,
having been buried with him in baptism8 and raised with him9 through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.1013
When you were dead in your sins11 and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature,b God made youc alive12 with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,1314
having canceled the written code, with its regulations,14 that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross.1515
And having disarmed the powers and authorities,16 he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them17 by the cross.d16
Therefore do not let anyone judge you18 by what you eat or drink,19 or with regard to a religious festival,20 a New Moon celebration21 or a Sabbath day.2217
These are a shadow of the things that were to come;23 the reality, however, is found in Christ.
Do not let anyone who delights in false humility24 and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize.25 Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions.
