3 For you died,¹ and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your^a life,² appears,³ then you also will appear with him in glory.⁴ 5 Put to death,⁵ therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature:⁶ sexual immorality,⁷ impurity, lust, evil desires and greed,⁸ which is idolatry.⁹ 6 Because of these, the wrath of God¹⁰ is coming.^b 7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.¹¹ 8 But now you must rid yourselves¹² of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander,¹³ and filthy language from your lips.¹⁴ 9 Do not lie to each other,¹⁵ since you have taken off your old self¹⁶ with its practices 10 and have put on the new self,¹⁷ which is being renewed¹⁸ in knowledge in the image of its Creator.¹⁹ 11 Here there is no Greek or Jew,²⁰ circumcised or uncircumcised,²¹ barbarian, Scythian, slave or free,²² but Christ is all,²³ and is in all. 12 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves²⁴ with compassion, kindness, humility,²⁵ gentleness and patience.²⁶ 13 Bear with each other²⁷ and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.²⁸
