Hebrews 10:31

A fearful thing (poberon). Old adjective (from pobew, to frighten). In N.T. only in Heb. ( Deuteronomy 10:27 Deuteronomy 10:31 ; Deuteronomy 12:21 ). The sense is not to be explained away. The wrath of God faces wrongdoers. To fall (to empesein). "The falling" (articular infinitive second aorist active of empiptw, to fall in, followed here by ei). We are not dealing with a dead or an absentee God, but one who is alive and alert ( Deuteronomy 3:12 ).
