You don't have to be in a local church for very long to find out that Christians are flawed people who can be difficult to deal with. Many think that they'll be okay without the church, but it's there that the genuineness of our faith is actually tested and displayed as true or false. Paul, here, is not talking about unseen things belonging to fantasy or pure imagination. Rather, he's referring to unseen, yet real, things. Everyone believes in unseen things. Take for example fixed concepts by which our world operates constantly---moral absolutes, universal laws of thought, logic, etc.

Since Christ has conquered every wickedness in the cosmos and is Lord over all powers, no one can stand against those who belong to Him. Nor can we be separated from God's love which is in Christ Jesus. God loves us, His adopted children, to the same degree that He loves His only begotten Son.
