v. 1 - Before God, the Father created the earth, Jesus, the Son of God, the Word was there with God because Jesus is God.
v. 2 - Jesus was with God in the very beginning – God, the Father and Jesus discussed or talked with each other as they created the earth.
v. 3 - Jesus is the creator everything – God, Jesus, HS is the creator of me and everything in the world. He created this beautiful world for me to live in and have a relationship with Him on a daily basis.
v. 4 - Jesus is the giver of life – he gave life to all animals, plants and people – Jesus gave me life by dying for me on the cross and by believing this I have eternal life in Him. I would not be here without the life that Jesus gives us.
v. 5 - Jesus the light has been shining but people don’t get it – we don’t understand the light and that that light gives you and I life.
v. 6 - John was chosen by God to come before Jesus and make ready the path of Christ.
v. 7 - John was a witness to others for Jesus – he shined the light of Jesus to people every ever He went. He told the people about Jesus coming with the purpose in mind that they that would listen could believe in Jesus.
v. 8 - John was not the one that would be the light – he was to prepare the way for the light.
v. 9 - Jesus was the true light. Jesus lights the way for every man in the world - every person that has ever lived. Jesus has provided a path for every person that is full of light. All other ways are in darkness.
v. 10 - Jesus came into the world even though He created it. The people in the world didn’t know him. They didn’t realize that Jesus is God or even their Creator.
v. 11 - Jesus came down here to earth among his own creation – people he longs to have a relationship with – and the people didn’t receive Him. They didn’t believe Jesus was the creator or even God – they thought he was just a man like themselves. It was part of their disbelief was because if they admitted that Jesus was the Son of God and the creator – then they would have to admit that they are lower than God and not as perfect as God.
v. 12 - anyone that receives Jesus – who He is and what He has done – then God has given them the power to become children of God – that them that believe in Jesus’ name - This is God's purpose and plan for each person.
v. 13 - . By believing in what Jesus has done and who He is you are born not of flesh but became God’s child and part of his family forever.
v. 14 - Jesus took on flesh to come here to earth – he became man but stayed God – Jesus came into the world just like any person – Jesus lived in a house and slept in a bed, ate meals and took baths just like each of us. Jesus lived among us as one of us and was one of us. The people saw Jesus’ glory – as the Son of God – did they believe it – No. Jesus was full of Grace. Jesus was full of the truth. There is no other truth than Jesus.
v. 15 - John told others about Jesus and that Jesus would be coming soon. That Jesus is God.
v. 16 - People can receive the fullness of God through grace unto grace.
v. 17 - God gave his Law to Moses many years before – but Jesus brought truth and grace for each man.
v. 18 - No one has seen God the Father – But Jesus is God – Jesus declared God to us while he was here on earth.
v. 19 - People would ask John the Baptist about who this Jesus was.
v. 20 - John would explain that he himself was not the Christ.
v. 21 - the people didn’t even understand who John was let alone Jesus.
v. 22 - The people wanted to take an answer back to the leaders so they continued to question John about John and Jesus.
v. 23 - John told the people that he was just getting things ready for Jesus but he wasn’t the Messiah.
v. 25 - Everyone else before that spoke for God had been a prophet – so the leaders were puzzled by who John was.
v. 26 - John just told them that he can only baptize with water but…
v. 27 - Jesus – who is coming- you will want over John – Jesus is someone so special that John didn’t feel worthy to untie Jesus’ sandle
v. 29 - Jesus is walking toward the place where John was baptizing and preaching. John proclaims and probably points out Jesus coming toward them – He announces that Jesus is the Lamb of God – here the people have been sacrifing lambs for their sins for years over and over. John is telling everyone WHO Jesus is and WHAT Jesus will do.
v. 30 - John reminds the people that they don’t want him but they will want Jesus because Jesus is the creator.
v. 31 - John knew that Jesus was coming and that He, Jesus would be real to the Jews. John was preparing the way for Jesus. John was working himself out of a job.
v. 32 - The HS came upon Jesus after his baptized.
v. 33 - The HS came and stayed with Jesus from then on. Jesus would baptize the people with the HS.
v. 34 - Only the Son of God can baptize with the HS.
v. 35 - John was doing his work by the river with his disciples.
v. 36 - John told his disciples about Jesus – who Jesus is.
v. 37 - Two of John’s disciples heard this about Jesus and they choose to follow Jesus from that point on.
v. 38 - Jesus questioned the disciples – why do you follow me? The disciples realized that Jesus was a Master or teacher and they wanted to know where He lived. Andrew and Peter
v. 39 - These two disciples followed Jesus to his home and stayed with him.
v. 41 - Andrew went to find Simon who later became Peter – to meet Jesus the Messiah.
v. 42 - Andrew brought Peter to Jesus and Jesus gave Simon a new name..
v. 43 - Next day Jesus found Philip in Galilee.
v. 45 - Philip found Nathanael and explained that they had found the Messiah.
v. 46 - Nathanael followed Philip to where Jesus was. Nathanael wasn’t sure that the Messiah could come from a little town called Nazareth.
v. 47 - Jesus knew that Nathanael wasn’t being deceitful.
v. 48 - Nathanael couldn’t get over the fact that Jesus knew who he was so he asked Jesus. Jesus told him that he saw Nathanael under the fig tree.
v. 49 - At that point Nathanael knew that Jesus was the Son of God and the King of Israel.
v. 50 - Jesus explains to Nathanael that Nathanael would see greater things in the near future.
v. 51 - Jesus told Nathanael that he would see the heaven open and see the angels coming and going from the Son of Man. Read less
