V5: God knew us way before we are born because it is He who formed us in our mother's womb and He already has a destiny for us. V17: As God's chosen vessels, we must not be afraid to speak or act out that which God has instructed us to say or do because God will become our defense. V1: God's majesty is to be proclaimed throughout the universe. His glory and majesty is demonstrated in many ways as described in v2-8. V2: how He is able to use weak things like children and infants to defeat His adversaries. V3-8: Compared to the marvelous heavenly bodies that God has created yet God concerns and favors man such that the Lord has made man to govern over everything that God has created, how much more the Son of man, Jesus prophetically. In conclusion, God has designed and fashioned us from the Beginning to reign and rule alongside with Him. God's majestic attributes is seen in how He has graced and favored man to rule with Him over His creations even though we are so undeserving to rule in the first place. V1-2: king David acknowledges that the Lord is his refuge. V3-5: king David is confident that he did nothing unjust to his enemies, and if he has done wrong, he would allow himself to be be judged even by his enemies. V8-10: God is able to search the hearts and minds of men, He is omniscient, therefore He is able to judge rightly knowing who is wicked and who is righteous in heart. David is not assuming his own righteousness before the Lord but bases his righteousness and integrity towards his foes as he did nothing wrong against them, therefore God should judge his cause. V11:-13: king David proclaims that the Lord is his Righteous Judge that is poised to take action against those who do evil in His sight. If we have a righteous cause? V1-2: king David acknowledges that he deserves to be rebuked, but pleads with the Lord in humility that the Lord disciplines him with love and not through wrath, even though he deserves it. David seeks to appeal to the Lord for mercy because of his weakness, in other words asking the Lord to be gentle with him because of his weakness. Bones form the structure of the person, and therefore David ask God to heal him at his core which resulted in his weakness. David appeals to the lord for healing although he deserves rebuke. Bones here may not depict that David is weak physically but is an analogy that his fundamental values or character or beliefs could be erroneous and seeks the Lord to correct him but gently. V3-8: David appeals to God's unfailing love to hasten to deliver him from the vexation of his soul. It seems to David that the Lord may be using his enemies to discipline him. God never stops loving, and His love is perfect and He knows what is best for His children, including discipline. v5: David enemies do not praise God, whereas David does and his enemies probably know this and therefore appeals to God not to allow him to falter, so that his enemies do not gloat over him and hence make a mockery of God. Even if a righteous man falls, the Lord has promised that he will always get up again. V7-10: Although David's could not seen God's hand of deliverance yet, probably the enemies (problems) are ever before him to vex him, but David is confident that God has heard his cries and by faith believes that Lord accepts his prayer and is confident that the Lord will not allow David's enemies to gloat over his demise any longer, and be put to shame themselves for dealing unkindly to the Lord's anointed righteous ones. Do I allow the discipline of the Lord or do I resist His loving discipline? Is my heart hardened to rebel against the Lord's loving rebuke? Is there anything that vexes me that could be the result of my sin and weakness of my character? Do I plead to the Lord for his loving mercy or do I carry on in my old ways?  Read less

V1-3: king David acknowledges that the Lord is the true King and God, and therefore comes humbly before Him with faith that the Lord will even hear his petitions first thing in the morning, and even expects God's answer soon as he eagerly waits. God simply desires to hear from His people, not considering petitions to be a nuisance at any hour of the day. V4-6: In David's petition, he is confident that God will respond to his petition not because of David's goodness but rather God's attributes. God is holy so He simply detest that which is evil, God also hates the proud and abhors lies that are bent to harm others. V7: David does not consider himself any more righteous than those who are bent on evil against him, but what sets David apart from evil men is that he fears God, and therefore more grace and mercy is bestowed upon him to come into God's presence for his petitions. What is the problems David is facing: v6, v9 & v10 – David has been maligned and there is rebellion in the camp. What is David's petition? V8 – David desires God to clearly show him what is righteous way to do things in the eyes of a righteous God that he has chosen to follow, because there are those who desire evil to happen to David, and therefore v10 David desires God to put to shame those that malign and think evil of him, on account that David is made righteous before the Lord. Those that rebel against David's authority would indirectly be rebelling against God because David is God's anointed. V11-12: David being king trust in God fully as his refuge rather than his own position of authority and influence to get his way. David knows that the righteous are those that delight in the Lord (love His name) and surely the Lord will keep them secure. Do I believe that God desires to hear my prayer / petitions? Do I trust in God to make me secure, or do I trust in my own wisdom and position to make myself secure. Am I rested in God alone?  Read less

V1: David, knows that God is righteous in character, and has experienced God's deliverance because of His righteous attribute, therefore David sought the Lord to hear his pleas again. V2: Reason for David's plea is because there are those with power and influence that seeks to condemn him, chasing after vain glories denying truth for their own goals. V3: David is confident of his identity in the Lord and that he is God fearing and therefore the Lord will hear his call. V4-5: David knows that anger can often lead to sin, therefore he must guard his heart and not even voice out his angry frustrations, but be still and trust in the Lord and continue to do that which is righteous before the Lord and not take matters into his own hands by vengeance. Basically, let God be vindicate in His time. V6: When evil abounds and multitudes around say “Where is your God! Being good does not prevail!” That is when we have to set our face as flint and have a clear perspective of the God Almighty so that we can continue to hope in Him because He is faithful. V7: When we can see God, that He is with us even though in the midst of trouble, there is a certain kind of unspeakable gladness that is derived from His gracious presence, knowing that He is in full control over the situation is even more joyous that making lots of money or becoming more prosperous. V8: Because God is in control and our hearts are rested in Him, we can sleep in peace without burden or anxiety. God is Almighty and therefore He alone is enough to be my only security to rest easy. David, although being God's anointed king did not have a smooth sailing life and was persecuted by Saul and even by his own son Absalom. It is difficult to see God's hand when you are on the run and hiding in cave, yet David still believes in the character of God, and firmly believes that He will hear his cry and deliver him from his oppressors. V2: Be careful, just like David, there will be those who would put doubt that God will not save you any longer. This is the devil's scheme, to put fear and doubt in the Lord, and he uses those close enough to you to put those thoughts, maybe colleagues or even unknowingly your love ones. Therefore guard your minds and do not entertain it. V5-6: Even if completely surrounded by multitude of oppressors, David can still sleep and awake as usual because of God's faithfulness continues to protect him even though he does not see deliverance yet. Will I still have faith in God in the midst of oppression? Will I resign to the circumstances in life rather than cry out to God Who hears our cries?  Read less
