in my early Christian walk this scripture was solely taught for material giving (in particular money) Give & you will get back. However, the several verses preceding this scripture talk about giving of yourself, your things, forgiveness, etc. It's not just talking about material giving. It's the matters of the heart that the scripture is trying to get to the bottom of here. Our love walk= selfless giving of all ourselves.... and in return we shall get back. (what some may call "karma", I guess. However we don't intentionally give to get. We give because we love & care for others more than ourselves. LUKE 1:7- I bet children were something that was strongly desired in their family. (verse 13 shows that they had prayed for children) verse 6 says they were righteous & obedient serving the Lord. I bet they were distraught wondering why they couldn't get pregnant. God always comes through though. Proof that things aren't going to always go the way we want them too. We just need to trust God knowing that everything is going to be OK... no matter what. he has a plan.  Read less
