1. David attributed this to the Lord. He realized that this had been done because he wanted David to be the King for the sake of his people Israel. 2. 1 Samuel 16:7-13 Divine favor. When Jesse brought out all the sons, he did not bring David. Samuel asked Jesse to send for David and he was annointed despite his appearance and height. Pivotal times in my lfe: 1. Becoming a Christian at the age of 12 at a Billy Graham event, but, not realizing what that meant at the time. 2. Separating from my first husband at the age of 28 and through difficult situations and heart break, understanding the true meaning of a relationship with Christ. 3. Becoming pregnant at the age of 33 in my second marriage even though the doctors said it was near impossible and having Britt due on my birthday signified the forgivness of my divorce and forced me to come to grips with my issue of being born. 4. Moving to Oregon at the age of 36 away from every person I had ever loved and shared a friendship with to a "wilderness" of family that soon became the enemy. Understanding the true meaning of living in the wilderness with God. On my own in a little town called Damascus with no car and no friends I completed the bible study "Experiencing God" and my relationship went from a teenager to a young adult becoming closer to God then at any other time in my life prior. 4. During my four life circumstnaces I learned that God is faithful, a loving disciplanarian, constant, forgiving and truly the only person that I need to consider before making choices. Because when God is helping me understand the difference between choices, little or big, it will provide the best choice for those around me, myself, and ultimatley the glorification of God. 5. It helps me currently trust God because I know by experience, not because I'm following a "rule book" but because I'm following his Word, both living and written and I can clearly see the evidence of when I'm trusting and when i'm walking in my own way. 6. 1 Chronicles 13:2-4 shows David's priority and desire as the new king was to bring the rest of the brothers together and to bring the ark of God back. He wanted to do this if it "felt right to the people" first and "if it was the will of God." 7. He understood from pesonal experience, that seeing God's presence would the constant reminder to go to God for the answers. 8. Working, empty nest wife. Practical daily living helps: 1) Offer myself as a living sacrifice before getting out of bed each morning. j 2) Post a sripture post each Monday on my desk and change out on Monday. 3) When I start to feel anxious, offended or worried go to God in that moment in my mind. 1. I feel: Chosen by God Disciplined by God Loved by God 2. I feel chosen by God because he made a specific point of working me through my issue/anger of being born. He used Brittany to show me he was in control of life and she was due on my birthday even though both Mark and I were told it would be impossible for us to have children. I feel disciplined because I know when the Holy Spirit is trying to get my attention and he let's situations play out in a way that I can see how my choices were of Him or ot of Him. Often times I push pass the warnings of the Holy Spirit and choose my own path. I know that I'm loved by God because even when I choose the path contrary to what He is showing me, he still stays with me through the negative outcome and helps me find my way out and back to Him. I am truly grateful that he chose me. 3. When I can see God working in my life and when I join in where he God elects us for salavation. Provides more confidence in my decision making ability knowing that God knows that outcome of my decision. TB, EK, AM, TH 4. God elects us to be Christ like. I don't see a choice in the 3 options? I really struggle with Beth's interpretation that God chooses us...I believe he chose all of us, but, he gives us the freedom to accept his invitation. He knows who will choose him because he is the Alpha and the Omega. When we accept him as our savior he shows us the path, when we ask and/or when we are open to him guiding us through our days. This is the first time in my studies with Beth that I do not agree. I see it more as this incredible journey that God provides the world a way to hear or read about Him. He sends an invitation to go on this journey where we will one day attend a banquet celebration. Everyone receives the invite, but, some toss their invitation aside because they don't believe the journey is a real thing, or they don't want to give up the control of their life because they don't see the benefit or too strongwilled to want guidance from anyone. When we accept the invitation "the Holy Spirit/Jesus into our heart" we are assured of our seat at the banquet and we have a "Life for Dummies" book that teaches us about who are Father in heaven is and when we understand Who he is and Who we are in Him, the journey becomes easier because we realize that without Him we will stumble into deadends and life experiences that He never intended for us. He loves all of us, but, like any good parent...once we are of age he allows us to choose. Acts 13:22 God chose David because he knew that David understood who God was and because he understood this, he knew that David would not waiver from the task. Because once you know God, truly know God you are passionate for Him and that is what God needed in someone that would be worthy to rule over a kingdom of God's people. 7. Psalms 78:71-72 God of times refers to us as sheep and he used what David already knew how to do. The same skill and care he used with sheep, David used with the people that God gave him to shepherd. 1Samuel 17:44-45 Shows that he knew and was confident in where his help came from. He believed God over the fears and challenges set before him. 8. The Lord is my shephed, I WILL NOT WANT showed David that God would provide his needs. He MAKETH ME TO LIE DOWN in green pastures showed him that God would require David to rest. He leadth me beside THE StiLL WATERS showed him that God would provide the stability he would need. He leadith me in the PATHS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS showed him that he could depend on God to lead him into God places. MY CUP RUNNETH OVER showed him that even in the midst of enemies God would shower him with blessings. AND I WILL DWELL IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD FOREVER showed that through life on earth and heaven he was guaranteed of God's presence and all the comes with it. 9. I trust God more then not. Not just when it's convenient, but I can't say most often. I prioritize intimate times with God. Not just when it's convenient, but, not often enough. I pursue Holy living not just when it's convenient, but, more of when I set myself up for success to do this. When I make a point to consider God in all things, it works. I will at times get caught up in the moment and not remember that he is there. I am grateful more often we God taps me on the shoulder and reminds me that he is the reason something good is happening or that I'm safe because he has provided my safety, my health, my job. 10. One specific thing I can do is to start my day praying with him before work, read a scripture when I get to work, keep him present in my mind through- out the day. Purpose to thank him when things take a turn for better or notice when he is being active so that I can be reminded of how grateful I am that he is in the little things as much as the big things. Commit to completing my study at least twice during the week. 11. Dear Father thank you for the ways that you speak to me. Please forgive me for my sinful spending. Help me to be secure in you and to experience your safe place. Show me how to love those around me and remind me that your truth is more important then pleasing the world.
