1 Sǎoluó de érzi yī shī bō shè tīngjian Níér sǐ zaì Xībǎilún , shǒu jiù fā ruǎn . Yǐsèliè zhòngrén yĕ dōu jīng huáng .

2 Sǎoluó de érzi yī shī bō shè yǒu liǎng gè jūnzhǎng , yī míng Bāná , yī míng Lìjiǎ , shì Biànyǎmǐn zhīpaì , Bǐlù rén lín mén de érzi . Bǐlù yĕ shǔ Biànyǎmǐn .

3 Bǐ lù rén zǎo xiān taó dàoJītāyīn , zaì nàli jìjū , zhídào jīnrì .

4 Sǎoluó de érzi Yuēnádān yǒu yī gè érzi míng jiào mǐ fēi bō shè , shì quètuǐ de . Sǎoluó hé Yuēnádān sǐwáng de xiāoxi cóng yé sī liè chuán dào de shíhou , tā cái wǔ suì . tā rǔmǔ bào zhe tā taópǎo . yīnwei paó dé taì jí , háizi diào zaì dì shàng , tuǐ jiù què le .

5 Yī rì , Bǐlù rén lín mén de liǎng gè érzi Lìjiǎ hé Bāná chū qù , yuē zaì wǔ rè de shíhou dào le yī shī bō shè de jiā . yī shī bō shè zhēng shuì wǔ jué .

6 Tāmen jìn le fángzi , jiǎ zuò yào qǔ maìzi , jiù cī tòu yī shī bō shè de dù fù , taópǎo le .

7 Tāmen jìn fángzi de shíhou , yī shī bō shè zhèngzaì wòfáng lǐ tǎng zaì chuáng shàng , tāmen jiāng tā shā sǐ , gē le tāde shǒu jí , ná zhe shǒu jí zaì yà là bā zǒu le yī yè ,

8 Jiāng yī shī bō shè de shǒu jí ná dào Xībǎilún jiàn Dàwèi wáng , shuō , wáng de chóudí Sǎoluó céng xún suǒ wáng de xìngméng . kàn nǎ , zhè shì tā érzi yī shī bō shè de shǒu jí . Yēhéhuá jīnrì wèi wǒ zhǔ wǒ wáng zaì Sǎoluó hé tā hòuyì de shēnshang bào le chóu .

9 Dàwèi duì Bǐlù rén lín mén de érzi Lìjiǎ hé tā xiōngdi Bāná shuō , wǒ zhǐ zhe jiù wǒ xìngméng tuōlí yīqiè kǔnàn , yǒngshēng de Yēhéhuá qǐshì ,

10 Cóng qián yǒu rén bàogào wǒ shuō , Sǎoluó sǐ le , tā zì yǐwéi bào hǎo xiāoxi . wǒ jiù ná zhù tā , jiāng tā shā zaì xǐ gé là , zhè jiù zuò le tā bào xiāoxi de shǎngcì .

11 Hékuàng è rén jiāng yì rén shā zaì tāde chuáng shàng , wǒ qǐbù xiàng nǐmen tǎo liú tā xuè de zuì , cóng shìshang chúmiĕ nǐmen ne .

12 Yúshì Dàwèi fēnfu shàonián rén jiāng tāmen shā le , kǎn duàn tāmende shǒu jiǎo , guà zaì Xībǎilún de chí páng , què jiāng yī shī bō shè de shǒu jí zàng zaì Xībǎilún Níér de fùnmù lǐ .

Chapter 4

Ishbosheth murdered. (1-7) David puts to death the murderers. (8-12)

Verses 1-7 See how Ishbosheth was murdered! When those difficulties dispirit us, which should sharpen our endeavours, we betray both our heavenly crowns and our earthly lives. Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty and ruin. The idle soul is an easy prey to the destroyer. We know not when and where death will meet us. When we lie down to sleep, we are not sure that we may not sleep the sleep of death before we awake; nor do we know from what hand the death-blow may come.

Verses 8-12 A person may be glad to obtain his just wishes, and yet really regret the means by which he receives them. He may be sorry for the death of a person by which he is a gainer. These men shed innocent blood, from the basest motives. David justly executed vengeance upon them. He would not be beholden to any to help him by unlawful practices. God had helped him over many a difficulty, and through many a danger, therefore he depended upon him to crown and complete his own work. He speaks of his redemption from all adversity, as a thing done; though he had many storms yet before him, he knew that He who had delivered, would deliver.

This chapter relates the concern the death of Abner gave to Ishbosheth, and the men of Israel, 2Sa 4:1; the murder of Ishbosheth by two of his captains, who cut off his head, and brought it to David, 2Sa 4:2-8; by whom they were rewarded according to their deserts, he putting them to death, and exposing their bodies to shame and ignominy, 2Sa 4:9-12.
