Yēlìmǐshū 25

1 Yóudà wáng Yuēxīyà de érzi yuē yǎ jìng dì sì nián , jiù shì Bābǐlún wáng Níbùjiǎnísǎ de yuán nián , Yēhéhuá lún Yóudà zhòng mín de huà líndào Yēlìmǐ .

2 Xiānzhī Yēlìmǐ jiù jiāng zhè huà duì Yóudà zhòngrén hé Yēlùsǎlĕng de yīqiè jūmín shuō ,

3 Cóng Yóudà wáng Yàmén de érzi Yuēxīyà shí sān nián zhídào jīnrì , zhè èr shí sān nián zhī neì , cháng yǒu Yēhéhuá de huà líndào wǒ . wǒ yĕ duì nǐmen chuánshuō , jiù shì cóng zǎo qǐlai chuánshuō , zhǐshì nǐmen méiyǒu tīng cóng .

4 Yēhéhuá yĕ cóng zǎo qǐlai , chāiqiǎn tāde púrén zhòng xiānzhī dào nǐmen zhèlǐ lái ( zhǐshì nǐmen méiyǒu tīng cóng , yĕ méiyǒu zè ĕr ér tīng ) ,

5 Shuō , nǐmen gèrén dāng huí tóu , líkāi è dào hé suǒ zuò de è , biàn kĕ jūzhù Yēhéhuá gǔ shí suǒ cìgĕi nǐmen hé nǐmen lièzǔ zhī dì , zhídào yǒngyuǎn .

6 Bùkĕ suícóng bié shén shìfèng jìngbaì , yǐ nǐmen shǒu suǒ zuò de rĕ wǒ fānù . zhèyàng , wǒ jiù bù jiā haì yǔ nǐmen .

7 Ránér nǐmen méiyǒu tīng cóng wǒ , jìng yǐ shǒu suǒ zuò de rĕ wǒ fānù , xiànhaì zìjǐ . zhè shì Yēhéhuá shuō de .

8 Suǒyǐ wàn jūn zhī Yēhéhuá rúcǐ shuō , yīnwei nǐmen méiyǒu tīng cóng wǒde huà ,

9 Wǒ bì zhào bĕi fāng de zhòng zú hé wǒ púrén Bābǐlún wáng Níbùjiǎnísǎ lái gōngjī zhè dì hé zhè dì de jūmín , bìng sìwéi yīqiè de guó mín . wǒ yào jiāng tāmen jǐn xíng mièjué , yǐzhì tāmen líng rén jīnghaì , chīxiào , bìngqiĕ yǒng jiǔ huāngliáng . zhè shì Yēhéhuá shuō de .

10 Wǒ yòu yào shǐ huānxǐ hé kuaìlè de shēngyīn , xīnláng hé xīn fù de shēngyīn , tuī mó de shēngyīn hé dēng de liàngguāng , cóng tāmen zhōngjiān zhǐxī .

11 Zhè quán dì bìrán huāngliáng , líng rén jīnghaì . zhèxie guó mín yào fúshì Bābǐlún wáng qī shí nián .

12 Qī shí nián mǎn le yǐhòu , wǒ bì xíngfá Bābǐlún wáng hé nà guó mín , bīng Jiālèdǐ rén zhī dì , yīn tāmende zuìniè shǐ nà dì yǒngyuǎn huāngliáng . zhè shì Yēhéhuá shuō de .

13 Wǒ yĕ bì shǐ wǒ xiàng nà dì suǒ shuō de huà , jiù shì jì zaì zhè shū shang de huà , shì Yēlìmǐ xiàng zhèxie guó mín shuō de yùyán , dōu líndào nà dì .

14 Yīnwei yǒu duō guó hé dà jūnwáng bì shǐ Jiālèdǐ rén zuò núpú . wǒ yĕ bì zhào tāmende xíngwéi , àn tāmen shǒu suǒ zuò de bàoyìng tāmen .

15 Yēhéhuá Yǐsèliè de shén duì wǒ rúcǐ shuō , nǐ cóng wǒ shǒu zhōng jiē zhè bēi fèn nù de jiǔ , shǐ wǒ suǒ chāiqiǎn nǐ qù de gè guó de mín hē .

16 Tāmen hē le jiù yào dōng dǎo xī wāi , bìng yào fā kuáng , yīn wǒ shǐ dāo jiàn líndào tāmen zhōngjiān .

17 Wǒ jiù cóng Yēhéhuá de shǒu zhōng jiē le zhè bēi , gĕi Yēhéhuá suǒ chāiqiǎn wǒ qù de gè guó de mín hē ,

18 Jiù shì Yēlùsǎlĕng hé Yóudà de chéngyì , bìng Yēlùsǎlĕng de jūnwáng yǔ shǒulǐng , shǐ zhè chéngyì huāngliáng , líng rén jīnghaì , chīxiào , zhòuzǔ , zhēng rújīn rì yíyàng .

19 Yòu yǒu Āijí wáng fǎlǎo hé tāde chénpú , shǒulǐng , yǐjí tāde zhòng mín ,

20 Bìng zá zú de rénmín hé Wūsī dì de zhū wáng , yǔ Fēilìshì dì de zhū wáng , Yàshíjīlún , Jiāsà , yǐ jí lún , yǐjí Yàshítū shèngxia de rén .

21 Yǐdōng , Móyē , Yàmén rén ,

22 Tuīluó de zhū wáng , Xīdùn de zhū wáng , hǎidǎo de zhū wáng ,

23 Dǐdàn , Tímǎ , Bùsī , hé yīqiè tì zhōuwéi tóufa de .

24 A lā bǎi de zhū wáng , zhù kuàngyĕ zá zú rénmín de zhū wáng ,

25 Xīn lì de zhū wáng , Yǐlán de zhū wáng , mǎ liè de zhū wáng ,

26 Bĕi fāng yuǎn jìn de zhū wáng , yǐjí tiān xià dì shang de wàn guó hē le , yǐhòu shì shā kè ( jiù shì Bābǐlún ) wáng yĕ yào hē .

27 Nǐ yào duì tāmen shuō , wàn jūn zhī Yēhéhuá Yǐsèliè de shén rúcǐ shuō , nǐmen yào hē , qiĕ yào hē zuì , yào ǒu tù , qiĕ yào diēdǎo , bùdé zaì qǐlai , dōu yīn wǒ shǐ dāo jiàn líndào nǐmen zhōngjiān .

28 Tāmen ruò bù kĕn cóng nǐ shǒu jiē zhè bēi hē , nǐ jiù yào duì tāmen shuō , wàn jūn zhī Yēhéhuá rúcǐ shuō , nǐmen yídéng yào hē .

29 Wǒ jì cóng chēngwèi wǒ míng xià de chéng qǐ shǒu shīxíng zāihuò , nǐmen néng jǐn miǎn xíngfá ma . nǐmen bì bùnéng miǎn , yīnwei wǒ yào méng dāo jiàn líndào dì shang yīqiè de jūmín . zhè shì wàn jūn zhī Yēhéhuá shuō de .

30 Suǒyǐ nǐ yào xiàng tāmen yùyán zhè yīqiè de huà , gōngjī tāmen , shuō , Yēhéhuá bì cóng gāo tiān hǒu jiào , cóng shèng suǒ fā shēng , xiàng zìjǐ de yáng qún dàshēng hǒu jiào . tā yào xiàng dì shang yīqiè de jūmín nà hǎn , xiàng chuaì pútào de yíyàng .

31 Bì yǒu xiǎngshēng dádào dìjí , yīnwei Yēhéhuá yǔ liè guó xiāng zhēng . fán yǒu xuèqì de , tā bì shĕnwèn . zhìyú è rén , tā Bìjiāo gĕi dāo jiàn . zhè shì Yēhéhuá shuō de .

32 Wàn jūn zhī Yēhéhuá rúcǐ shuō , kàn nǎ , bì yǒu zāihuò cóng zhè guó fā dào nà guó , bìng yǒu dà bàofēng cóng dìjí guā qǐ .

33 Dào nà rì , cóng dì zhèbiān zhídào dì nàbiān dōu yǒu Yēhéhuá suǒ shā lù de . bì wú rén āikū , bùdé shōuliàn , bùdé zàng mán , bì zaì dì shang chéngwéi fèntǔ .

34 Mùrén nǎ , nǐmen dāng āi hào , hūhǎn . qúnzhòng de tóu mù a , nǐmen yào gún zaì huī zhōng , yīnwei nǐmen beì shā lù fēnsàn de rìzi zú zú lái dào . nǐmen yào diē suì , hǎoxiàng mĕi qì dá suì yíyàng .

35 Mùrén wú lù taópǎo . qúnzhòng de tóu mù yĕ wúfǎ taótuō .

36 Tīng a , yǒu mùrén hūhǎn , yǒu qúnzhòng tóu mù āi hào de shēngyīn , yīnwei Yēhéhuá shǐ tāmende cǎo cháng biàn wèi huāng cháng .

37 Yēhéhuá fāchū mĕng liè de nùqì , píngān de yángjuàn jiù dōu jì jìng wú shēng .

38 Tā lí le yǐn mì chù xiàng shīzi yíyàng , tāmende dì , yīn dāo jiàn xiōngmĕng de qīyē , yòu yīn tā mĕng liè de nùqì dōu chéngwéi kĕ jīnghaì de .

Yēlìmǐshū 25 Commentary

Chapter 25

The Jews rebuked for not obeying calls to repentance. (1-7) Their captivity during seventy years is expressly foretold. (8-14) Desolations upon the nations shown by the emblem of a cup of wrath. (15-29) The judgments again declared. (30-38)

Verses 1-7 The call to turn from evil ways to the worship and service of God, and for sinners to trust in Christ, and partake of his salvation, concerns all men. God keeps an account how long we possess the means of grace; and the longer we have them, the heavier will our account be if we have not improved them. Rising early, points out the earnest desire that this people should turn and live. Personal and particular reformation must be insisted on as necessary to a national deliverance; and every one must turn from his own evil way. Yet all was to no purpose. They would not take the right and only method to turn away the wrath of God.

Verses 8-14 The fixing of the time during which the Jewish captivity should last, would not only confirm the prophecy, but also comfort the people of God, and encourage faith and prayer. The ruin of Babylon is foretold: the rod will be thrown into the fire when the correcting work is done. When the set time to favour Zion is come, Babylon shall be punished for their iniquity, as other nations have been punished for their sins. Every threatening of the Scripture will certainly be accomplished.

Verses 15-29 The evil and the good events of life are often represented in Scripture as cups. Under this figure is represented the desolation then coming upon that part of the world, of which Nebuchadnezzar, who had just began to reign and act, was to be the instrument; but this destroying sword would come from the hand of God. The desolations the sword should make in all these kingdoms, are represented by the consequences of excessive drinking. This may make us loathe the sin of drunkenness, that the consequences of it are used to set forth such a woful condition. Drunkenness deprives men of the use of their reason, makes men as mad. It takes from them the valuable blessing, health; and is a sin which is its own punishment. This may also make us dread the judgments of war. It soon fills a nation with confusion. They will refuse to take the cup at thy hand. They will not believe Jeremiah; but he must tell them it is the word of the Lord of hosts, and it is in vain for them to struggle against Almighty power. And if God's judgments begin with backsliding professors, let not the wicked expect to escape.

Verses 30-38 The Lord has just ground of controversy with every nation and every person; and he will execute judgment on all the wicked. Who can avoid trembling when God speaks in displeasure? The days are fully come; the time fixed in the Divine counsels, which will make the nations wholly desolate. The tender and delicate shall share the common calamity. Even those who used to live in peace, and did nothing to provoke, shall not escape. Blessed be God, there is a peaceable habitation above, for all the sons of peace. The Lord will preserve his church and all believers in all changes; for nothing can separate them from his love.

INTRODUCTION TO JEREMIAH 25

This chapter contains a prophecy of the destruction of Judea by the king of Babylon; and also of Babylon itself, after the Jews' captivity of seventy years; and likewise of all the nations round about. The date of this prophecy is in Jer 25:1; when the prophet puts the Jews in mind of the prophecies that had been delivered unto them by himself and others, for some years past, without effect, Jer 25:2-7; wherefore they are threatened with the king of Babylon, that he should come against them, and strip them of all their desirable things; make their land desolate, and them captives for seventy years, Jer 25:8-11; at the expiration of which he in his turn shall be punished, and the land of Chaldea laid waste, and become subject to other nations and kings, Jer 25:12-14; and by a cup of wine given to all the nations round about, is signified the utter ruin of them, and who are particularly mentioned by name, Jer 25:15-26; which is confirmed by beginning with the city of Jerusalem, and the destruction of that, Jer 25:27-29; wherefore the prophet is bid to prophesy against them, and to declare the Lord's controversy with them, and that there should be a slaughter of them from one end of the earth to the other, Jer 25:30-33; upon which the shepherds, kings, and rulers of them, are called to lamentation and howling, Jer 25:34-38.
