the Negev1 and the whole region from the Valley of Jericho, the City of Palms,2 as far as Zoar.34
Then the LORD said to him, "This is the land I promised on oath4 to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob5 when I said, 'I will give it6 to your descendants.' I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross7 over into it."
And Moses the servant of the LORD8 died9 there in Moab, as the LORD had said.
He buried hima in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth Peor,10 but to this day no one knows where his grave is.117
Moses was a hundred and twenty years old12 when he died, yet his eyes were not weak13 nor his strength gone.148
The Israelites grieved for Moses in the plains of Moab15 thirty days,16 until the time of weeping and mourning17 was over.
Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spiritb of wisdom18 because Moses had laid his hands on him.19 So the Israelites listened to him and did what the LORD had commanded Moses.
Since then, no prophet20 has risen in Israel like Moses,21 whom the LORD knew face to face,2211
who did all those miraculous signs and wonders23 the LORD sent him to do in Egypt--to Pharaoh and to all his officials24 and to his whole land.
For no one has25 ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds26 that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.
