(grace or gift of God ) (in Revised Version spelled JOANAN).
- Son of Rhesa, according to the text of ( Luke 3:27 ) and one of the ancestors of Christ; but according to the view explained in a previous article, son of Zerubbabel, and the same as HANANIAH in ( 1 Chronicles 3:19 )
- The name of a woman, occurring twice in ( Luke 8:3 ; 24:10 ) but evidently denoting the same person, (A.D. 28-30.) In the first passage she is expressly stated to have been "wife of Chuza, steward of Herod," that is, Antipas, tetrarch of Galilee.
