Art not thou our God
In a peculiar sense, not merely as the Creator and Governor of men, but in a covenant relation their covenant God and Father: who didst drive out the inhabitants of the land before thy people
Israel;
the seven nations of Canaan, to make way and room for Israel: and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever?
made a deed of gift of it to them, and settled it on them till the coming of the Messiah, and that as an instance of love and friendship to Abraham; and wilt thou therefore suffer it to be taken from his seed?

5 Und Josaphat stand in der Versammlung Judas und Jerusalems im Hause Jehovas, vor dem neuen Vorhof;

6 und er sprach: Jehova, Gott unserer Väter, bist du es nicht, der da Gott im Himmel ist, und bist du nicht der Herrscher über alle Königreiche der Nationen? Und in deiner Hand ist Kraft und Macht; und niemand vermag gegen dich zu bestehen.

7 Hast du nicht, unser Gott, die Bewohner dieses Landes vor deinem Volke Israel ausgetrieben und es dem Samen Abrahams, deines Freundes, gegeben ewiglich?

8 Und sie haben darin gewohnt und haben dir ein Heiligtum darin gebaut für deinen Namen, und gesagt:

9 Wenn Unglück über uns kommt, Schwert, Strafgericht, oder Pest, oder Hungersnot, und wir treten vor dieses Haus und vor dich, denn dein Name ist in diesem Hause und schrieen zu dir aus unserer Bedrängnis, so wirst du hören und retten.
