11
In him we were also chosen,a having been predestined1 according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose2 of his will,
12
in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.313
And you also were included in Christ4 when you heard the word of truth,5 the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal,6 the promised Holy Spirit,714
who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance8 until the redemption9 of those who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory.10
15
For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus11 and your love for all the saints,1216
I have not stopped giving thanks for you,13 remembering you in my prayers.1417
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father,15 may give you the Spiritb of wisdom16 and revelation, so that you may know him better.
18
I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened17 in order that you may know the hope to which he has called18 you, the riches19 of his glorious inheritance20 in the saints,2119
and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power22 is like the working of his mighty strength,2320
which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead24 and seated him at his right hand25 in the heavenly realms,2621
far above all rule and authority, power and dominion,27 and every title28 that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.29
