remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners1 to the covenants of the promise,2 without hope3 and without God in the world.
But now in Christ Jesus you who once4 were far away have been brought near5 through the blood of Christ.614
For he himself is our peace,7 who has made the two one8 and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility,
by abolishing in his flesh9 the law with its commandments and regulations.10 His purpose was to create in himself one11 new man out of the two, thus making peace,
and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross,12 by which he put to death their hostility.
He came and preached peace13 to you who were far away and peace to those who were near.1418
For through him we both have access15 to the Father16 by one Spirit.1719
Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens,18 but fellow citizens19 with God's people and members of God's household,2020
built21 on the foundation22 of the apostles and prophets,23 with Christ Jesus himself24 as the chief cornerstone.2521
In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple26 in the Lord.
And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.27
