But because of his great love for us,1 God, who is rich in mercy,
made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions2--it is by grace you have been saved.36
And God raised us up with Christ4 and seated us with him5 in the heavenly realms6 in Christ Jesus,
in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace,7 expressed in his kindness8 to us in Christ Jesus.
For it is by grace9 you have been saved,10 through faith11--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--
not by works,12 so that no one can boast.1310
For we are God's workmanship,14 created15 in Christ Jesus to do good works,16 which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Therefore, remember that formerly17 you who are Gentiles by birth and called "uncircumcised" by those who call themselves "the circumcision" (that done in the body by the hands of men)18--
remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners19 to the covenants of the promise,20 without hope21 and without God in the world.
But now in Christ Jesus you who once22 were far away have been brought near23 through the blood of Christ.2414
For he himself is our peace,25 who has made the two one26 and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility,
