For it is by grace1 you have been saved,2 through faith3--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--
not by works,4 so that no one can boast.510
For we are God's workmanship,6 created7 in Christ Jesus to do good works,8 which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Therefore, remember that formerly9 you who are Gentiles by birth and called "uncircumcised" by those who call themselves "the circumcision" (that done in the body by the hands of men)10--
remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners11 to the covenants of the promise,12 without hope13 and without God in the world.
But now in Christ Jesus you who once14 were far away have been brought near15 through the blood of Christ.1614
For he himself is our peace,17 who has made the two one18 and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility,
by abolishing in his flesh19 the law with its commandments and regulations.20 His purpose was to create in himself one21 new man out of the two, thus making peace,
and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross,22 by which he put to death their hostility.
He came and preached peace23 to you who were far away and peace to those who were near.2418
For through him we both have access25 to the Father26 by one Spirit.27
