and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery,1 which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.

His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God2 should be made known3 to the rulers and authorities4 in the heavenly realms,511
according to his eternal purpose6 which he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.

In him and through faith in him we may approach God7 with freedom and confidence.813
I ask you, therefore, not to be discouraged because of my sufferings for you, which are your glory.

For this reason I kneel9 before the Father,

from whom his whole familya in heaven and on earth derives its name.

I pray that out of his glorious riches10 he may strengthen you with power11 through his Spirit in your inner being,1217
so that Christ may dwell in your hearts13 through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted14 and established in love,

may have power, together with all the saints,15 to grasp how wide and long and high and deep16 is the love of Christ,
19
and to know this love that surpasses knowledge17--that you may be filled18 to the measure of all the fullness of God.19
