Unity in the Body of Christ

1 As a prisoner1 for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy2 of the calling3 you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another4 in love.5 3 Make every effort to keep the unity6 of the Spirit through the bond of peace.7 4 There is one body8 and one Spirit9--just as you were called to one hope when you were called10-- 5 one Lord,11 one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all,12 who is over all and through all and in all.13 7 But to each one of us14 grace15 has been given16 as Christ apportioned it. 8 This is why ita says: "When he ascended on high, he led captives17 in his train and gave gifts to men."b18 9 (What does "he ascended" mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regionsc ? 10 He who descended is the very one who ascended19 higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.)20
