Do not get drunk on wine,1 which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.219
Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.3 Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord,
always giving thanks4 to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Submit to one another5 out of reverence for Christ.
Wives, submit to your husbands6 as to the Lord.723
For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church,8 his body, of which he is the Savior.
Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands9 in everything.
Husbands, love your wives,10 just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her1126
to make her holy,12 cleansinga her by the washing13 with water through the word,
and to present her to himself14 as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.1528
In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives16 as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
