John 4:19-26 (English Standard Version)

19 The woman said to him, "Sir, I perceive that 1you are 2a prophet. 20 3Our fathers worshiped on 4this mountain, but you say that 5in Jerusalem is 6the place where people ought to worship." 21 Jesus said to her, 7"Woman, believe me, 8the hour is coming when 9neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. 22 10You worship what you do not know; 11we worship what we know, for 12salvation is 13from the Jews. 23 But 14the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father 15in spirit and 16truth, for the Father 17is seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth." 25 The woman said to him, "I know that 18Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, 19he will tell us all things." 26 Jesus said to her, 20"I who speak to you am he."
