Therefore, my beloved, 1as you have always 2obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,
for 3it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for 4his good pleasure.
Do all things 5without grumbling or 6questioning,
that you may be blameless and innocent, 7children of God 8without blemish 9in the midst of 10a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine 11as lights in the world,
holding fast to 12the word of life, so that in 13the day of Christ 14I may be proud that 15I did not run in vain or labor in vain.
Even if I am to be 16poured out as a drink offering upon 17the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all.
