Exodus 15:13-23 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
13 "In your unfailing love you will lead1 the people you have redeemed.2 In your strength you will guide them to your holy dwelling.3 14 The nations will hear and tremble;4 anguish5 will grip the people of Philistia.6 15 The chiefs7 of Edom8 will be terrified, the leaders of Moab will be seized with trembling,9 the peoplea of Canaan will melt10 away; 16 terror11 and dread will fall upon them. By the power of your arm they will be as still as a stone12-- until your people pass by, O LORD, until the people you boughtb13 pass by.14 17 You will bring15 them in and plant16 them on the mountain17 of your inheritance-- the place, O LORD, you made for your dwelling,18 the sanctuary,19 O Lord, your hands established. 18 The LORD will reign for ever and ever."20 19 When Pharaoh's horses, chariots and horsemenc went into the sea,21 the LORD brought the waters of the sea back over them, but the Israelites walked through the sea on dry ground.22 20 Then Miriam23 the prophetess,24 Aaron's sister, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women followed her, with tambourines25 and dancing.26 21 Miriam sang27 to them: "Sing to the LORD, for he is highly exalted. The horse and its rider28 he has hurled into the sea."29

The Waters of Marah and Elim

22 Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea and they went into the Desert30 of Shur.31 For three days they traveled in the desert without finding water.32 23 When they came to Marah, they could not drink its water because it was bitter. (That is why the place is called Marah.d33)
