18 E Manasse giacque co’ suoi padri, e fu seppellito nell’orto della sua casa, nell’orto di Uzza. Ed Amon, suo figliuolo, regnò in luogo suo.

2 Kings 21:18

And Manasseh slept with his fathers
] Or died, after a reign of fifty five years, and a life of sixty seven:

and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza;
whether the burial of him here was his own choice, judging himself unworthy to lie with the kings of Judah, who had been guilty of such great sins, or whether the will of others, on the same account, is not certain; and as much at a loss are we for the reason of this garden being called the garden of Uzza, whether from Uzzah that died for touching the ark, ( 2 Samuel 6:6 2 Samuel 6:7 ) or from King Uzziah, ( 2 Kings 15:7 ) . The Jews buried in gardens in the times of Christ, who himself was buried in one, ( John 19:41 ) . The Romans had sometimes sepulchres in their gardens ^F7, Galba the emperor was buried in his gardens ^F8; and so had other nations. Cyrus king of Persia was buried in a garden ^F9:

and Amon his son reigned in his stead;

16 Manasse, oltre a ciò, sparse molto sangue innocente, talchè n’empiè Gerusalemme, da un capo all’altro; oltre al peccato suo, col quale egli fece peccar Giuda, facendo ciò che dispiace al Signore.

17 Ora, quant’è al rimanente de’ fatti di Manasse, e tutto quello ch’egli fece, e il suo peccato ch’egli commise; queste cose non sono esse scritte nel libro delle Croniche dei re di Giuda?

18 E Manasse giacque co’ suoi padri, e fu seppellito nell’orto della sua casa, nell’orto di Uzza. Ed Amon, suo figliuolo, regnò in luogo suo.

19 AMON era d’età di ventidue anni quando cominciò a regnare; e regnò due anni in Gerusalemme. E il nome di sua madre era Mesullemet, figliuola di Harus, da Iotba.

20 Ed egli fece ciò che dispiace al Signore, come avea fatto Manasse, suo padre;
