Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation:1 seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.2" And it was so.312
The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds4 and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.513
And there was evening, and there was morning6--the third day.
And God said, "Let there be lights7 in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night,8 and let them serve as signs9 to mark seasons10 and days and years,1115
and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so.1216
God made two great lights--the greater light13 to govern14 the day and the lesser light to govern15 the night.16 He also made the stars.1717
God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth,
to govern the day and the night,18 and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.1919
And there was evening, and there was morning20--the fourth day.
And God said, "Let the water teem with living creatures,21 and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky."2221
So God created23 the great creatures of the sea24 and every living and moving thing with which the water teems,25 according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind.26 And God saw that it was good.27
