1 Corinthians 10:24

24 None of you should be looking out for your own interests, but for the interests of others.

1 Corinthians 10:24 Meaning and Commentary

1 Corinthians 10:24

Let no man seek his own
His carnal pleasure and private advantage in eating things sacrificed to "idols", to the hurt and disadvantage of his brethren; otherwise it is lawful for a man to seek his own good, temporal, spiritual, and eternal, to seek for the necessaries of life, his spiritual peace and comfort, and his everlasting welfare and happiness; but then he should not only seek his own,

but every man another's wealth,
or "that which is another's"; for the word "wealth" is not in the original text. The apostle's meaning is, that a man, in the use of things indifferent, should not seek the gratifying of his sensual appetite or other passions, what may be pleasing or profitable to himself; but should consult the profit and edification of others.

1 Corinthians 10:24 In-Context

22 Or do we want to make the Lord jealous? Do we think that we are stronger than he?
23 "We are allowed to do anything," so they say. That is true, but not everything is good. "We are allowed to do anything" - but not everything is helpful.
24 None of you should be looking out for your own interests, but for the interests of others.
25 You are free to eat anything sold in the meat market, without asking any questions because of your conscience.
26 For, as the scripture says, "The earth and everything in it belong to the Lord."
