Psalms 37:27

27 Avoid evil, do good, and live forever.

Psalms 37:27 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 37:27

Depart from evil, and do good
Depart from evildoers, and their evil ways; join not with them, nor fret and be envious at them; but do acts of beneficence, and all good works; since righteous men, and their seed, are not forsaken, but blessed of God; (See Gill on Psalms 34:14);

and dwell for evermore;
or "thou shalt dwell for evermore" F26; see ( Psalms 37:3 ) ; that is, in everlasting habitations, in the house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens, ( Luke 16:9 ) ( 2 Corinthians 5:1 ) . The Targum is, "that thou mayest dwell in everlasting life".

Psalms 37:27 In-Context

25 I have been young, and now I am old, but I have never seen a righteous person abandoned or his descendants begging for food.
26 He is always generous and lends freely. His descendants are a blessing.
27 Avoid evil, do good, and live forever.
28 The LORD loves justice, and he will not abandon his godly ones. They will be kept safe forever, but the descendants of wicked people will be cut off.
29 Righteous people will inherit the land and live there permanently.
