View In My Bible
8 Because you have plundered many nations, the peoples who are left will plunder you.1 For you have shed man's blood;2 you have destroyed lands and cities and everyone in them.3 9 "Woe to him who builds4 his realm by unjust gain5 to set his nest6 on high, to escape the clutches of ruin! 10 You have plotted the ruin7 of many peoples, shaming8 your own house and forfeiting your life. 11 The stones9 of the wall will cry out, and the beams of the woodwork will echo it. 12 "Woe to him who builds a city with bloodshed10 and establishes a town by crime! 13 Has not the LORD Almighty determined that the people's labor is only fuel for the fire,11 that the nations exhaust themselves for nothing?12 14 For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory13 of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.14 15 "Woe to him who gives drink15 to his neighbors, pouring it from the wineskin till they are drunk, so that he can gaze on their naked bodies. 16 You will be filled with shame16 instead of glory.17 Now it is your turn! Drink18 and be exposeda !19 The cup20 from the LORD's right hand is coming around to you, and disgrace will cover your glory. 17 The violence21 you have done to Lebanon will overwhelm you, and your destruction of animals will terrify you.22 For you have shed man's blood;23 you have destroyed lands and cities and everyone in them. 18 "Of what value24 is an idol,25 since a man has carved it? Or an image26 that teaches lies? For he who makes it trusts in his own creation; he makes idols that cannot speak.27
