Make every effort to live in peace with all men3 and to be holy;4 without holiness no one will see the Lord.515
See to it that no one misses the grace of God6 and that no bitter root7 grows up to cause trouble and defile many.

See that no one is sexually immoral,8 or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son.917
Afterward, as you know, when he wanted to inherit this blessing, he was rejected. He could bring about no change of mind, though he sought the blessing with tears.1018
You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness, gloom and storm;1119
to a trumpet blast12 or to such a voice speaking words13 that those who heard it begged that no further word be spoken to them,1420
because they could not bear what was commanded: "If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned."b1521
The sight was so terrifying that Moses said, "I am trembling with fear."c1622
But you have come to Mount Zion,17 to the heavenly Jerusalem,18 the city19 of the living God.20 You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly,

to the church of the firstborn,21 whose names are written in heaven.22 You have come to God, the judge of all men,23 to the spirits of righteous men made perfect,24
