Kings 15:1 In-Context

Now in the eighteenth year of king Yarov`am the son of Nevat began Aviyam to reign over Yehudah.
Three years reigned he in Yerushalayim: and his mother's name was Ma`akhah the daughter of Avishalom.
He walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him; and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father.
Nevertheless for David's sake did the LORD his God give him a lamp in Yerushalayim, to set up his son after him, and to establish Yerushalayim;
because David did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, and didn't turn aside from anything that he commanded him all the days of his life, except only in the matter of Uriyah the Hittite.
