Romans 4:23 Meaning and Commentary

Romans 4:23

Now it was not written for his sake alone
This was not left on the sacred records, ( Genesis 15:6 ) ,

that it was imputed to him;
purely on his account, merely for his sake, as an encomium of his faith, and an honourable testimony to it, and for the encouragement of it; though this was doing him a very great honour, and was one design of it.

Romans 4:23 In-Context

21 and being fully assured that what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
22 Therefore it also was "reckoned to him for righteousness."
23 Now it was not written that it was accounted to him for his sake alone,
24 but for our sake also, to whom it will be accounted, who believe in him who raised Yeshua, our Lord, from the dead,
25 who was delivered up for our trespasses, and was raised for our justification.
