Isaiah 14:20-30 (New International Version)

20 you will not join them in burial,1 for you have destroyed your land and killed your people. The offspring2 of the wicked3 will never be mentioned4 again. 21 Prepare a place to slaughter his sons5 for the sins of their forefathers;6 they are not to rise to inherit the land and cover the earth with their cities. 22 "I will rise up7 against them," declares the LORD Almighty. "I will cut off from Babylon her name8 and survivors, her offspring and descendants,9" declares the LORD. 23 "I will turn her into a place for owls10 and into swampland; I will sweep her with the broom of destruction,11" declares the LORD Almighty.12

A Prophecy Against Assyria

24 The LORD Almighty has sworn,13 "Surely, as I have planned,14 so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will stand.15 25 I will crush the Assyrian16 in my land; on my mountains I will trample him down. His yoke17 will be taken from my people, and his burden removed from their shoulders.18" 26 This is the plan19 determined for the whole world; this is the hand20 stretched out over all nations. 27 For the LORD Almighty has purposed,21 and who can thwart him? His hand22 is stretched out, and who can turn it back?23

A Prophecy Against the Philistines

28 This oracle24 came in the year25 King Ahaz26 died: 29 Do not rejoice, all you Philistines,27 that the rod that struck you is broken; from the root of that snake will spring up a viper,28 its fruit will be a darting, venomous serpent.29 30 The poorest of the poor will find pasture, and the needy30 will lie down in safety.31 But your root I will destroy by famine;32 it will slay33 your survivors.34
