View In My Bible
25 I will crush the Assyrian1 in my land; on my mountains I will trample him down. His yoke2 will be taken from my people, and his burden removed from their shoulders.3" 26 This is the plan4 determined for the whole world; this is the hand5 stretched out over all nations. 27 For the LORD Almighty has purposed,6 and who can thwart him? His hand7 is stretched out, and who can turn it back?8

A Prophecy Against the Philistines

28 This oracle9 came in the year10 King Ahaz11 died: 29 Do not rejoice, all you Philistines,12 that the rod that struck you is broken; from the root of that snake will spring up a viper,13 its fruit will be a darting, venomous serpent.14 30 The poorest of the poor will find pasture, and the needy15 will lie down in safety.16 But your root I will destroy by famine;17 it will slay18 your survivors.19 31 Wail,20 O gate!21 Howl, O city! Melt away, all you Philistines!22 A cloud of smoke comes from the north,23 and there is not a straggler in its ranks.24 32 What answer shall be given to the envoys25 of that nation? "The LORD has established Zion,26 and in her his afflicted people will find refuge.27"
