Isaiah 24:15-23 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
15 Therefore in the east1 give glory2 to the LORD; exalt3 the name4 of the LORD, the God of Israel, in the islands5 of the sea. 16 From the ends of the earth6 we hear singing:7 "Glory8 to the Righteous One."9 But I said, "I waste away, I waste away!10 Woe11 to me! The treacherous12 betray! With treachery the treacherous betray!13" 17 Terror14 and pit and snare15 await you, O people of the earth.16 18 Whoever flees17 at the sound of terror will fall into a pit;18 whoever climbs out of the pit will be caught in a snare.19 The floodgates of the heavens20 are opened, the foundations of the earth shake.21 19 The earth is broken up,22 the earth is split asunder,23 the earth is thoroughly shaken. 20 The earth reels like a drunkard,24 it sways like a hut25 in the wind; so heavy upon it is the guilt of its rebellion26 that it falls27--never to rise again.28 21 In that day29 the LORD will punish30 the powers31 in the heavens above and the kings32 on the earth below. 22 They will be herded together like prisoners33 bound in a dungeon;34 they will be shut up in prison and be punisheda after many days.35 23 The moon will be abashed, the sun36 ashamed; for the LORD Almighty will reign37 on Mount Zion38 and in Jerusalem, and before its elders, gloriously.39
