Isaiah 24:16-23 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
16 From the ends of the earth1 we hear singing:2 "Glory3 to the Righteous One."4 But I said, "I waste away, I waste away!5 Woe6 to me! The treacherous7 betray! With treachery the treacherous betray!8" 17 Terror9 and pit and snare10 await you, O people of the earth.11 18 Whoever flees12 at the sound of terror will fall into a pit;13 whoever climbs out of the pit will be caught in a snare.14 The floodgates of the heavens15 are opened, the foundations of the earth shake.16 19 The earth is broken up,17 the earth is split asunder,18 the earth is thoroughly shaken. 20 The earth reels like a drunkard,19 it sways like a hut20 in the wind; so heavy upon it is the guilt of its rebellion21 that it falls22--never to rise again.23 21 In that day24 the LORD will punish25 the powers26 in the heavens above and the kings27 on the earth below. 22 They will be herded together like prisoners28 bound in a dungeon;29 they will be shut up in prison and be punisheda after many days.30 23 The moon will be abashed, the sun31 ashamed; for the LORD Almighty will reign32 on Mount Zion33 and in Jerusalem, and before its elders, gloriously.34
