Woe to David's City

1 Woe1 to you, Ariel, Ariel,2 the city3 where David settled! Add year to year and let your cycle of festivals4 go on. 2 Yet I will besiege Ariel;5 she will mourn and lament,6 she will be to me like an altar hearth.a7 3 I will encamp against you all around; I will encircle8 you with towers and set up my siege works9 against you. 4 Brought low, you will speak from the ground; your speech will mumble10 out of the dust.11 Your voice will come ghostlike12 from the earth; out of the dust your speech will whisper.13 5 But your many enemies will become like fine dust,14 the ruthless15 hordes like blown chaff.16 Suddenly,17 in an instant, 6 the LORD Almighty will come18 with thunder19 and earthquake20 and great noise, with windstorm and tempest21 and flames of a devouring fire.22 7 Then the hordes of all the nations23 that fight against Ariel,24 that attack her and her fortress and besiege her, will be as it is with a dream,25 with a vision in the night--
