He sits enthroned1 above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers.2 He stretches out the heavens3 like a canopy,4 and spreads them out like a tent5 to live in.623
He brings princes7 to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.824
No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root9 in the ground, than he blows10 on them and they wither,11 and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff.1225
"To whom will you compare me?13 Or who is my equal?" says the Holy One.1426
Lift your eyes and look to the heavens:15 Who created16 all these? He who brings out the starry host17 one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength,18 not one of them is missing.1927
Why do you say, O Jacob, and complain, O Israel, "My way is hidden from the LORD; my cause is disregarded by my God"?2028
Do you not know? Have you not heard?21 The LORD is the everlasting22 God, the Creator23 of the ends of the earth.24 He will not grow tired or weary,25 and his understanding no one can fathom.2629
He gives strength27 to the weary28 and increases the power of the weak.

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men29 stumble and fall;3031
but those who hope31 in the LORD will renew their strength.32 They will soar on wings like eagles;33 they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.34
