Every valley shall be raised up,1 every mountain and hill2 made low; the rough ground shall become level,3 the rugged places a plain.
And the glory4 of the LORD will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it.5 For the mouth of the LORD has spoken."66
A voice says, "Cry out." And I said, "What shall I cry?" "All men are like grass,7 and all their glory is like the flowers of the field.
The grass withers8 and the flowers fall, because the breath9 of the LORD blows10 on them. Surely the people are grass.
The grass withers and the flowers11 fall, but the word12 of our God stands13 forever.14"
You who bring good tidings15 to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who bring good tidings to Jerusalem,a16 lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, "Here is your God!"1710
See, the Sovereign LORD comes18 with power,19 and his arm20 rules21 for him. See, his reward22 is with him, and his recompense accompanies him.
He tends his flock like a shepherd:23 He gathers the lambs in his arms24 and carries them close to his heart;25 he gently leads26 those that have young.2712
Who has measured the waters28 in the hollow of his hand,29 or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens?30 Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance?3113
Who has understood the mindb32 of the LORD, or instructed him as his counselor?3314
Whom did the LORD consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way? Who was it that taught him knowledge34 or showed him the path of understanding?35
