A bruised reed1 he will not break,2 and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out.3 In faithfulness he will bring forth justice;44
he will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice5 on earth. In his law6 the islands7 will put their hope."85
This is what God the LORD says-- he who created the heavens9 and stretched them out, who spread out the earth10 and all that comes out of it,11 who gives breath12 to its people, and life to those who walk on it:
"I, the LORD, have called13 you in righteousness;14 I will take hold of your hand.15 I will keep16 you and will make you to be a covenant17 for the people and a light18 for the Gentiles,197
to open eyes that are blind,20 to free21 captives from prison22 and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.238
"I am the LORD;24 that is my name!25 I will not give my glory to another26 or my praise to idols.279
See, the former things28 have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce29 them to you."
Sing30 to the LORD a new song,31 his praise32 from the ends of the earth,33 you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it,34 you islands,35 and all who live in them.
Let the desert36 and its towns raise their voices; let the settlements where Kedar37 lives rejoice. Let the people of Sela38 sing for joy; let them shout from the mountaintops.3912
Let them give glory40 to the LORD and proclaim his praise41 in the islands.4213
The LORD will march out like a mighty43 man, like a warrior44 he will stir up his zeal;45 with a shout46 he will raise the battle cry and will triumph over his enemies.47
