15
I am the LORD,1 your Holy One, Israel's Creator,2 your King.3"
16
This is what the LORD says-- he who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters,417
who drew out5 the chariots and horses,6 the army and reinforcements together,7 and they lay8 there, never to rise again, extinguished, snuffed out like a wick:918
"Forget the former things;10 do not dwell on the past.
19
See, I am doing a new thing!11 Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert12 and streams in the wasteland.1320
The wild animals14 honor me, the jackals15 and the owls, because I provide water16 in the desert and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen,
21
the people I formed17 for myself18 that they may proclaim my praise.1922
"Yet you have not called upon me, O Jacob, you have not wearied20 yourselves for me, O Israel.2123
You have not brought me sheep for burnt offerings,22 nor honored23 me with your sacrifices.24 I have not burdened25 you with grain offerings nor wearied you with demands26 for incense.2724
You have not bought any fragrant calamus28 for me, or lavished on me the fat29 of your sacrifices. But you have burdened me with your sins and wearied30 me with your offenses.3125
"I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions,32 for my own sake,33 and remembers your sins34 no more.35
