19 "Though you were ruined and made desolate1 and your land laid waste,2 now you will be too small for your people,3 and those who devoured4 you will be far away. 20 The children born during your bereavement will yet say in your hearing, 'This place is too small for us; give us more space to live in.'5 21 Then you will say in your heart, 'Who bore me these?6 I was bereaved7 and barren; I was exiled and rejected.8 Who brought these9 up? I was left10 all alone,11 but these--where have they come from?' " 22 This is what the Sovereign LORD12 says: "See, I will beckon to the Gentiles, I will lift up my banner13 to the peoples; they will bring14 your sons in their arms and carry your daughters on their shoulders.15 23 Kings16 will be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers.17 They will bow down18 before you with their faces to the ground; they will lick the dust19 at your feet. Then you will know that I am the LORD;20 those who hope21 in me will not be disappointed.22" 24 Can plunder be taken from warriors,23 or captives rescued from the fiercea ? 25 But this is what the LORD says: "Yes, captives24 will be taken from warriors,25 and plunder retrieved from the fierce;26 I will contend with those who contend with you,2728 and your children I will save.29 26 I will make your oppressors30 eat31 their own flesh; they will be drunk on their own blood,32 as with wine. Then all mankind will know33 that I, the LORD, am your Savior,34 your Redeemer,35 the Mighty One of Jacob.36"
