Isaiah 52:8-15 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
8 Listen! Your watchmen1 lift up their voices;2 together they shout for joy.3 When the LORD returns4 to Zion,5 they will see it with their own eyes. 9 Burst into songs of joy6 together, you ruins7 of Jerusalem, for the LORD has comforted8 his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem.9 10 The LORD will lay bare his holy arm10 in the sight of all the nations,11 and all the ends of the earth12 will see the salvation13 of our God. 11 Depart,14 depart, go out from there! Touch no unclean thing!15 Come out from it and be pure,16 you who carry the vessels17 of the LORD. 12 But you will not leave in haste18 or go in flight; for the LORD will go before you,19 the God of Israel will be your rear guard.20

The Suffering and Glory of the Servant

13 See, my servant21 will act wiselya; he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted.22 14 Just as there were many who were appalled23 at himb-- his appearance was so disfigured24 beyond that of any man and his form marred beyond human likeness25-- 15 so will he sprinkle26 many nations,c and kings27 will shut their mouths28 because of him. For what they were not told, they will see, and what they have not heard, they will understand.29
