who led1 them through the depths?2 Like a horse in open country, they did not stumble;314
like cattle that go down to the plain, they were given rest4 by the Spirit of the LORD. This is how you guided your people to make for yourself a glorious name.
Look down from heaven5 and see from your lofty throne,6 holy and glorious. Where are your zeal7 and your might? Your tenderness and compassion8 are withheld9 from us.
But you are our Father,10 though Abraham does not know us or Israel acknowledge11 us; you, O LORD, are our Father, our Redeemer12 from of old is your name.
Why, O LORD, do you make us wander13 from your ways and harden our hearts14 so we do not revere15 you? Return16 for the sake of your servants, the tribes that are your inheritance.1718
For a little while18 your people possessed your holy place, but now our enemies have trampled19 down your sanctuary.2019
We are yours from of old; but you have not ruled over them, they have not been called by your name.a21
